Bring your photos home

Snapshore moves the photos and videos on your phone to your laptop over a data cable or the same Wi-Fi. Then, if you want, it deletes from the phone only what is proven safe on the laptop.

How it works

Four steps, and nothing leaves home

Your photos go from the phone straight to the laptop and nowhere else. There is no cloud in between.

01

Connect

Open Snapshore on both. Your laptop finds the phone on the same Wi-Fi, or over a data cable. Pair once with a short code.

02

Pick photos

Move everything, or only what you choose. New photos are found on their own the next time you connect.

03

Move

Files stream across in small chunks, so even a phone with 4 GB of RAM never struggles with long videos.

04

Free your phone

Turn it on, and the photos that are safe on the laptop go to the phone's Trash. The space is yours again.

Your library

Then browse them on your laptop

A timeline of every photo, the places you took them on a world map, favourites and albums. All of it read from the files on your own disk.

Every photo, by date

A timeline that stays smooth with tens of thousands of photos and videos.

Places, offline

Read from the location stored in each photo, named from a city list inside the app.

Cable or Wi-Fi

Same Wi-Fi, a phone hotspot, a typed address, or a data cable for the fastest route.

Safety

Delete only what is proven

Snapshore says "sent" while a file is travelling and "safe" only once it has been checked. Deleting from the phone is a separate choice, and it is off until you turn it on.

A partial file or a hash that does not match deletes nothing. The photo stays on your phone.
  1. The laptop writes the fileand flushes it to disk.
  2. The hashes matchThe laptop's SHA-256 equals the phone's.
  3. You turned deleting onIt is off by default, on every phone.
  4. Your phone asks youAndroid Trash or iPhone Recently Deleted, with the system's own confirmation.

Not signed by a paid developer account yet. Each system asks once before it opens Snapshore. The steps below show how to get past that. Version 0.13.0, last updated 9 October 2026.

Coming from Photopho? Snapshore is the same app under its new name, installed as a new app. Uninstall Photopho, then pair your phone again. Your laptop keeps every photo it already saved and checks them without copying them again.

Install on Windows
  1. Run Snapshore-Windows-Setup.exe.
  2. If Windows SmartScreen says it protected your PC, choose More info → Run anyway.
  3. The installer adds Snapshore to the Start menu, and installs Microsoft's WebView2 runtime first if your PC does not have it.
Install on Mac
  1. Unzip Snapshore-macOS.zip and drag Snapshore.app into Applications.
  2. When macOS says it cannot verify the developer, open System Settings → Privacy & Security, scroll to Snapshore and choose Open Anyway.
  3. If macOS says the app is damaged, run this in Terminal and open it again:
    xattr -dr com.apple.quarantine /Applications/Snapshore.app
Install on Android
  1. Download the .apk in your phone's browser, or copy it over USB, then open it.
  2. When Android asks, allow your browser or file manager to install unknown apps.
  3. Open Snapshore and allow every permission it lists: photos and videos (all of them), notifications, and media management. It starts only once all are allowed.
  4. This is a debug build. If Android says it conflicts with an installed copy, uninstall the older Snapshore first and pair it with your laptop again. The laptop recognizes the phone and checks each photo it already saved without copying it again.
Install on iPhone

iOS does not install an unsigned .ipa as it is. Either:

  • Sideload the file with Sideloadly or AltStore, which sign it with your Apple ID.
  • Or build it with your Mac and Xcode, picking your Apple ID team under Signing & Capabilities. With a free Apple ID the app runs for 7 days, then you run it again to renew.

The first time, turn on Developer Mode (Settings → Privacy & Security) and trust your developer profile (Settings → General → VPN & Device Management).

Check that a download is intact (SHA-256)
